What is the difference between OLED and QLED TVs?QLED and OLED TVs both offer excellent picture quality but they have some distinct differences. OLED TVs are known for their exceptional picture quality, with the ability to turn off individual pixels, resulting in perfect blacks and a high contrast ratio. This makes them ideal for viewing content in darker environments.
In contrast, QLED TVs use quantum dots in conjunction with an LED backlight to enhance brightness and colour volume. They can achieve higher brightness levels, which makes them a great choice for well-lit rooms. -
How long do QLED TVs last?On average a QLED TV can last 10 years or more, even with regular use. This is due to the robust nature of quantum dot technology and the LED backlight system. With proper care and moderate viewing habits, the lifespan may be extended further. Find out more about QLED TVs.

What does HDR mean on a TV?HDR10 is the original and most common variation of HDR that you might come across. If manufacturers want to associate this term with a TV, it means that the TV must reach a certain standard based on colour subsampling, bit depth and other factors… To put it simply, the TV has to produce a certain standard of picture quality and this is measured against a variety of criteria.

What does Neo QLED mean?Samsung Neo QLED technology is an advancement of Samsung’s QLED technology. Samsung’s Neo QLED range boasts Quantum Mini LEDs. These are only 1/40th of the size of traditional LEDs - approximately the size of a grain of sand. These lights are expertly controlled so you get better contrast and detail across the screen.

What is an OLED TV?OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode. Unlike standard LED TVs, which use a backlight to produce colours, OLEDs produce both light and colour from a single diode or pixel. Their ability to be self-illuminating means they produce ‘real’ blacks. Deeper blacks allow for higher contrasts and richer colours, which in turn leads to a more natural and realistic image. This innovation means that OLED TVs no longer need a separate backlight and instead produce bright, colourful pictures from individually operated pixels.
