Touchpad
Use the touchpad to move the cursor or select an item. The left and right buttons of the touchpad act the same as the left and right buttons of a mouse.
Note - Use the touchpad only with fingers. The touchpad will not recognize actions of other objects.
Images and the touchpad layout may differ depending on the model.
The touchpad can be altered to suit your preferences. You can also choose different tapping sensitivities, scrolling directions, and gestures.
Select the Start icon, begin typing Touchpad settings, and then click it when it appears. Then, select Touchpad. You can turn the touchpad on or off, or enable it when a mouse is connected. Use the slider to adjust the cursor speed if you prefer to navigate quickly. You can choose new settings for tapping and clicking.
Cursor: If the touchpad isn’t responsive enough, you can change the sensitivity to Most sensitive or High sensitivity.
Note: This option may not be available on all models.
Taps or Tap settings: Adjust the different tapping settings by turning them on or off.
Scroll & zoom: Customize the scrolling and zoom options to suit your preferences.
Three-finger and four-finger gestures: You can swipe on the touchpad using either three or four fingers. Both types of gestures perform different actions. You can assign swiping and tapping directions for each one and change what happens when you swipe on the touchpad.
Reset your touchpad: If you don’t like the settings you selected, simply reset the touchpad to start over. On Windows 10, scroll down to the bottom of the page and then select Reset. On Windows 11, select Touchpad at the top of the screen, and then select Reset next to "Reset touchpad settings and gestures to defaults."
Note: The Reset option may be grayed out if you haven't changed the touchpad's default settings.
1. Unlock the touchpad.
Press and hold the Fn key and the F5 key simultaneously to unlock or lock the touchpad.
If your touchpad still isn't working, the following troubleshooting steps will be easier if you have a touchscreen or external mouse to use. It is possible to navigate completely by keyboard, however.
2. Check your touchpad settings
In Windows, go to Settings, and select Devices or Bluetooth & devices. Select Touchpad, and review the settings there. For instance, if you have an external mouse connected, your touchpad might be disabled while the mouse is connected.
You can also try resetting the touchpad. The steps will be a little different depending if you have Windows 10 or 11.
Windows 10: Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and select Reset.
Windows 11: Select Touchpad again to open its dropdown menu, and then select Reset next to "Reset touchpad settings and gestures to defaults." The Reset option may be grayed out if you have never changed your touchpad's settings.
If your model does not have a reset button, you can reset the driver by going to Device Manager, uninstalling the touchpad, and then scanning for new hardware in order to reinstall it.
3. Get Updates
Check Windows Updates and Samsung Update for any updates that may be for or affect your touchpad, and install them. It is a good idea to get any other device driver or critical updates at this time, as well. Device driver updates, such as those for your touchpad, may be listed under optional updates.
If the touchpad still does not work, please contact to Samsung Support.
